What is the perfect Asian wedding venue?  Couples all have the dream wedding venue in mind, sometimes couples do have varying opinions of what is the perfect venue.  For some, it’s functional places, like a dedicated venue like Nawaabs London, or Arianna Gardens.  For others, it’s a Manor House with rolling fields backing onto a lake with sailboats in the distance.

Your wedding day is one of the most important and memorable events of your life. From the dress and the flowers to the food and the music, every detail should be perfect. One of the most important decisions you’ll make is choosing the right venue. Not only should it be functional and comfortable for your guests, but it should also provide a beautiful backdrop for your wedding photographs. Here are some tips for picking the perfect wedding venue that could lead to some amazing Asian Wedding Pictures.

Consider the lighting:
When you’re looking at potential venues, pay attention to the lighting. The best lighting for wedding photos is natural light, so look for a venue with large windows or outdoor space. If the venue doesn’t have great natural light, make sure it has good artificial lighting that can be adjusted to create the right atmosphere.

Think about the scenery:

The scenery is a critical element in setting the tone for your wedding photos. Choose a venue with beautiful scenery and architecture, whether it’s a stunning garden or a historic building. Make sure the scenery complements the theme of your wedding, so everything looks cohesive.

Research the location

The location of your wedding venue will play a significant role in your wedding photography. Look for venues that are close to scenic locations or landmarks that you might want to include in your wedding photos. If you’re planning a destination wedding, make sure to scout out the best spots beforehand.

Check the rules:

Some venues have strict rules about photography, which could limit your photographer’s creativity. Be sure to ask the venue about their photography policies before you book, so you know what to expect.

Visit the venue in person:

Before you book a venue, it’s crucial to visit it in person. This will give you a chance to see the lighting, scenery, and location for yourself, and to imagine how your wedding photos will look. Take a camera with you to take some test shots and see how the venue looks on camera.

Your wedding venue is an essential aspect of your wedding day. It sets the tone and creates the backdrop for your wedding photos, which you’ll treasure for a lifetime. Keep these tips in mind as you search for the perfect venue, and you’re sure to find one that will create the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos.

Well we can all dream right, if you are still not sure about the venue have a look at the venue list in a previous blog post  here  or visit Asian Venue Guide here

What Are the Different Asian Wedding Photography Styles?

Asian Wedding Photography Styles. Photography adds a unique dimension to your wedding, not just on the day, but for many years after the big day.  These will be the only keepsake of value from your wedding.  And when you look back on your  wedding story book, these will be the ultimate family heirloom.

Getting the right photographer for your wedding is vitally important, and tips on choosing one can be found on the article  how to book a photographer.  One of the aspects I discuss in the article is  finding a style that suits you.  But what are the options and styles, what does it all mean. When you do your research, you will find that,  us photographers use a of jargon that can be confusing and loose you.  I have always felt that its my job to make your wedding planning journey as easy as possible.

I have put together a quick guide to help you find your way around styles.   To find out more about my style have a read here

The styles are not strict standards but disciplines  followed by wedding photographers, that shape the tone of your story in a specific way which means that you are limited to their style like it or not.  My style for example is a combination of  disciplines ranging from fashion, candid, reportage way…. with doing it again…. lets start the guide.

Asian Wedding Photography Styles

Traditional Asian Wedding Photography

Asian Wedding Photography Styles London
When you flick through old wedding albums or newer wedding storybooks, they are likely to tend to include a lot of traditional shots.  By which I mean they are classic posed shots of the key moments of the day;  The signing of the register, the formal group shots, the Jai Mala or ring exchange, cake cutting, the viday or ruksati,  shots of the cake cutting, first dance and the couple portraits and of course some very classic formal shots of the couple ( just think back to your parents pictures…)

This style puts the photographer in charge of the wedding, getting involved in guiding, directing and posing  and in some cases managing the flow of the wedding.  If this is your preferred style, make sure your photographer has the experience in people management and taking charge.

Photojournalistic Asian Wedding Photography

Reportage Style wedding photography

A ever growing style is Photojournalistic or reportage photography. A popular shooting style especially for capturing the unguarded relaxed moments of the day.  With this style you are giving the photographer a lot more room to flex their creative story telling and capturing moments they see that flows to retell your story in a relaxed and informal approach.

A lot of creativity, experience and some serious kills is required for this style of photography.  The  Photojornalistic/Reportage style relies heavily on the experience of the photographer and understanding the art of photography. This will put their visual and technical skills to test, they will need to have mastered the art of quickly aiming, adjusting settings, framing, and shooting as moments unfold around them. The results will be real and natural images. But be warned if a photographer only has 1 year of experience and is self taught, and they offer this style tread carefully as their style may not have developed yet!

Cinematic Asian Wedding Photography

This is a new and developing style of wedding photography,  when done right can result in awe inspiring images. Mainly reserved for stand out couples portraits,  cinematic wedding photography places emphasis on the composition, lighting, and background. The couple are posed either formally or candidly, within a picturesque setting.  This combined with the understanding of landscape photography in landscape photography, and some fancy post production work gives rise to some inspirational and timeless wedding photographs. An added element of this is that some of the photos will have a degree of fashion photography withing it.

However, again, if not done correctly can result in out of date “on trend styles” ( just think back to spot colour styles where an image is black & white, but on part is in colour!)

Natural Light Wedding Photography

Another skill based style, and heavily depends on the photographer knowing their craft. Natural light wedding photography is basically using natural and available light to take the picture rather than using a camera flash or artificial light sources.

For daytime and outdoor weddings, or  in a wedding venue which has a lot natural daylight this is the perfect choice, The result is obviously more natural. This style choice is for the brave and a for experienced photographer who knows how to deal with shadows and allowing for low light and other extreme lighting conditions such as harsh midday light.  Your photographer must be very experienced in this, again if the photographer is relativity new, then be sure they have the relevant training to provide this style. Its not as easy as it sounds.

Fine Art Wedding Photography

Fine Art Wedding photography,  is a style suited for the more creative couple.  You will see some creative framing, lighting and compositions. if you select this option, you will likely see things from a different perspective, you may just see elements of the story, rather than the whole picture, and relies on the viewer to fill in the gaps and see the beauty in the image rather than the full image. Don’t be surpeised to see only a hint of your wedding  lengha, or just details of a shot. The  emphasis on this style is the “Art” and creativity.  This style is best used in conjunction with another style if you are worried about missing the key shots. Checking with your photographer they can do both styles will be invaluable.

Fashion Wedding Photography

Fashion Wedding Photographer Birmingham

This one is for the style conscious couple, whose key focus will be the wedding day portraits. based on the commercial shoots of fashion and bridal magazines this has crossed over from engagement photography or pre-wedding shoots.  Its quite intensive, with multiple lighting setups, and loads of directions on poses and setting your outfits – its very time consuming and takes you away from the main wedding action for a while. Which means you will have to balance your schedule with the need for stylistic portraits.

The Asian wedding photography styles, you choose will determine the look, feel and ultimately   your wedding story.  My style, in simple terms is a combination of disciplines that is made up of my experience in photography from working for fashion magazines, newspapers and commercials clients, and over the years have combined to create a look and style which works well for all couples that provide classic, cinematic and timeless stories.

Yes, this is the Asian Wedding at Froyle Park, with a frozen fountain and a wandering peacock!

Winter weddings are amazing, what’s not amazing is the cold. February has sightly like longer days. But the weather has a different point of view.  Froyle park is set in the surrey country side, close enough to London to get there, but far enough away to be considered the country.

As a venue for Asian Weddings, we are no strangers to Froyle Park, and is one of those hidden gems of the home counties and ideal for those more intimate weddings.   Over the years we have been there a few times, but not during such a cold spell.

The driveway leading to the main house is short but has a big grandeur about it, leading to the fountain, this time round it was frozen and was slowly defrosting. The Asian Wedding at Froyle Park on this day was going to be unique, intimate, and low-key. The Reception was just as low-key. But elegant with it, with the most amazing wedding cake with 5 tiers of different flavors.

How much does Asian Wedding Photography Cost in UK?  you will never get a straight answer to this, it should be simple but the cost of the photographer for your wedding well depends on you too.  As with all great things, and weddings, in particular, there is a price for everything, some items are easily priced and you can see how the pricing is done.  A venue, for example, you are hiring a physical building for the duration of your wedding.  With other items, it’s a little tricky to establish what are you actually paying for.

Wedding photography, it seems is one of those items that can cause some confusion when it comes to cost and how costs are determined.   There are many factors that can affect wedding photography prices, but as suggested key factor in that will be you.

how much does asian wedding photography cost in uk

What do you want?

First things first.  There is no such thing as average price/cost of a wedding photographer.  every business has its own business model. Some photographers operate from studio space, some operate from home, this will be reflected in the cost ( to see a full breakdown of how we calculate cost see have a read of our costs page).  The number of events you are having,   how many wedding storybooks or prints you would like and how many photographers you want will impact the cost.  For some photographers, they will factor in hours of coverage as part of the price ( my fees are 99% unlimited coverage per event).

So you can see how the elements build the cost of the wedding photography fee.  So far its been a focus on the fixed costs, this is where the difference of cost takes shape across the wedding photography industry and secondly where confusion can start when comparing photographers prices alone.  The core cost of wedding photography is actually the photography or rather the creation of the photograph and who is behind the lens telling the story.  It’s about the creativity, about who you trust and whose style you like, and their experience in the field,  because that’s what you are actually paying for.  You are paying a photographer to document your wedding to capture the moments, the emotions and atmosphere of the day. This is a unique skill set that takes time and experience to gain, and prices often reflect that.

Now if you are just looking at the price as an indicator let say two photographers provide you with two costs, one is £550 the other is £1450 – what is your first instinct?   how are you comparing the photographers –  the commodities ( images on usb, prints, albums) or the trust, value and experience they bring to your wedding.

How much will you value the memories?

The third and final element of the costing or how much you should pay depends on you and what experience you get out of it.  If you are looking a pragmatic, utilitarian approach for your wedding and just need a  person to take a few snaps,  group shots and a couple of portraits then maybe consider allocating a lower budget for the service or even get some friends to do it.  However, if your view on the Weddings photos is more about the emotional connections, the moments and the story told by an experienced wedding photographer and storyteller, who will curate a bespoke wedding storybook then consider allocating a higher spend in relation to your overall wedding budget.

Pricing is where photographers set themselves apart from each other, the more experience and more quality of service you demand a higher price.  You really can’t match a new photographer with 2 weddings under their belt to a seasoned and experienced photographer who has covered 200+ weddings.  This is where you make the decision on how much you should pay, this is driven by the personal value of those wedding memories.

As you can see its not easy by any means on working out costs, but two simple rules and the above advice should steer you in the right direction.   Rule 1, Spend what you can afford.  Rule 2, allocate around 10-15% of your wedding budget to the photography – as this will be one of two things from your wedding you keep forever as family heirlooms the other being your love.

The Guru Nanak Gurdwara Hosts Beautiful Sikh Wedding in Bedford.   One of the countries hidden gems, this Gudwara is just awe inspiring. The ornate hand crafted stone and marble building hosts many a Sikh Wedding.

The  wedding started very early, well for the groom it did, leaving Manchester around 5pm to get to Bedford for 10am. Sukhi. No rest for the bride either she was up and busy at 5am too!  The Milni ( Gathering and meeting of the families) happened out side on a sunny morning.  The purpose of the Milni is for blessing for the day and also to formally introduce the two families to each other. It starts with the parents, then siblings, cousins and then uncles.  But we have seen Milinis that had a list of 30 from each side, luckily not this one.

The ceremony, was elegant and a little emotional at times, but was quite fluid and fast. The Anand kāraj, was followed by a Civil Ceremony. The on to the reception, a short drive away nestled in the Bedfordshire country side.  The reception was what you expected, the bride and groom had a dress change, then joined the guests for drinks, a bit of cake and an the opening of dance floor. Hope you enjoy this little story of the Sikh Wedding in Bedford.

The De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms sits on an unimposing street in the heart of London and is spectacular. It stands tall and dominates its surroundings. The ornate interiors add to the opulence of any Asian Wedding. The grand staircase leads you to the main hall, through the wooden panelled doors, and you are transported to another era, the high ceilings, the ornate chandeliers and baroque features take your breath away, even for me a photographer who has worked there many times.

Grand Connaught Rooms Asian Wedding

The day started off at ME Hotel Holborn, with a futuristic almost Blade Runner style lobby. A quick few shots of the couple, then off to the Connaught rooms, for more wedding portraits and the wedding reception, where 300 of their friends and family were awaiting their arrival. The drinks flowed and the party was well underway, with a very relaxed entrance by the newlyweds and their parents. The speeches were short, succinct and side-splitting. The dance routine by the close friends of the newlyweds was a double treat. Then the big dance-off, Team Bride v Team Groom. An epic battle ensued with legendary dance-offs by the dads! This was the climax to momentous week of celebrations & ceremonies. now to kick back and enjoy. Oh and the dancing bride… well just scroll down and see.

Moor Park Golf Club Photographer London. Your Getting married, in one of grandest venues in north-west London, Moor Park Golf Club. Your friends and family are gathering downstairs for the registry wedding. What’s on your mind?  nerves, butterflies, the future?  No,  not for our groom to be. He wants to play a quick game of billiards!  What better way to calm the nerves and get in the right “frame” of mind,  and an awesome opportunity to grab some off-piste wedding pictures.

Hindu Wedding Moor Park

When the time comes, our groom said his wedding vows with ease and the odd mix up of words but he got there. An elegant and short ceremony, which are always challenging, and means I have limited opportunity to get the shots that capture the moments and atmosphere, but by Jove did we get them. The ceremony was followed by a champagne reception and canapes.

The wedding portraits, we had a short time to get some relaxed but stylised images, that both captured their love for each other and the grandness of the venue. The wrap balcony and painted ceiling make Moor Park Mansion and an absolute joy to photograph and has led them to become one of the top-rated venues for Asian Weddings.

What is Asian Wedding photography?  It is a genre  of photography that specialises in and is primarily focused on documenting and photography of events and activities relating to Asian weddings.

The art of Asian wedding photography is a multifaceted skill and requires knowledge and expertise in different styles of photography and can include styles like portrait photography, documentary  or reportage photography, product and food photography and elements of fashion photography.  A good wedding photographer will expertly and seamlessly bring all these together to produce wedding photographs.

It also requires the photographer to have two unique skills that are essential in being able to produce memorable moments and personable photos of the day.   These are being a people person and a being able to managing situations.  These two skills, or traits are the defining factors for a wedding photographer. As a people person you should be able to read, understand and preempt  peoples actions and response.  And be confident   to interact with guests, families and the wedding couple.  Keeping a level head, is vital when 99% of the day is out of your control.  You need to be able be fluid and work around problems that come up in the wedding planning process. Also things like technical issues ( both kit and environment) managing weddings guests , and most important of all  time management.

A good wedding photograph depends on all the above.  The cost of wedding photography will differ from photographer to photographer – to find out more about the cost of  Asian wedding photography read our post here.

Asian Weddings are boring…so this couple changed the script

For some, an Asian Weddings is a slow-paced affair, everything at a gentle pace. While most of the couples, that book me, plan a wedding not as sedate. But we’re not talking over the top elements, fancy chair covers, or fast cars, they rely on their guests, families and friends to add the atmosphere and vibe of the wedding day.

From the energetic dancing and dhol to mark the arrival of the barrat, to the equally abundant voices at the gate, barring the groom from entering the venue, unless they hand over some solid cash. The reverence of the khutba by the Imam, and the elegant bridal entrance. All these moments, that define the day, and create the story of Asian Weddings.

The story then becomes abundant of pictures, and I look for the unconventional moments that prompt the day, that you may miss, but will love to relive once you see them.

Heres a little story I loved to photograph and retell in the heart of the Cheshire countryside.
